How does a galvanic cell produce electricity?

Open in App
Solution

A galvanic (voltaic) cell uses the energy released during a spontaneous redox reaction to generate electricity. The oxidation half-reaction occurs at one electrode (the anode), and the reduction half-reaction occurs at the other (the cathode).
