The leaf of the pitcher plant has modified pitcher like structure which is used to trap the insect which comes inside it. This modification is mainly evolved for fulfilling the nitrogen requirement of the plant. It has digestive enzymes equipped inside the plant to digest it and release the nitrogenous material from the insect.
