Question

How does a ship float in water?

Open in App
Solution

  1. A ship is a hollow object made up of iron and steel which contains a lot of air.
  2. Because air has a low density due to the presence of so much of it, the average density of a ship decreases when compared to the density of water.
  3. Since the average density of a ship is less than that of water, hence a ship floats in water.
