Reason of floating:

  1. The reason of an object (ship) floating in the fluid is due to the large buoyant force to counter its weight
  2. Inside the ship there are lot of empty space due to which the overall density of the ship is much less than the water.

Definition of waterline:

  1. A waterline is defined as the topmost level of the water which is touching the outer body of the ship.
  2. ship driver does not allow the water level to rise above the waterline to prevent it from sinking.
