Question

How does a vaccine affect immunity?

Open in App
Solution

A vaccine helps enhance the immune system of a person by helping them generate antibodies against a disease without actually causing the disease. The process involves injecting the person with an attenuated/ heat killed or modified form of the pathogen which is not capable of causing the disease but generates antibodies in response. This causes the immune system to be active in its response against the pathogen for the disease and the immune system is capable of generating faster responses against the pathogen on subsequent infection by the disease organism.
