Question

How does ascent of sap occurs in plants?

Open in App
Solution

The water and minerals absorbed by the roots are called sap. The upward movement of the sap from the roots to the leaves is known as the ascent of sap. It is driven by a transpirational pull. It is when most of the water drawn up from the roots evaporates from the leaves, which causes the roots to absorb more water.
