Solution

Asexual reproduction in insects:

  1. Insects reproduce asexually via the process of parthenogenesis.
  2. Parthenogenesis is the process by which the female eggs get fertilized without the fusion of male sperm.
  3. Hence, the females are able to produce eggs that have two copies of each chromosome instead of one as the usual egg.
  4. Therefore, due to parthenogenesis a spontaneous development of an embryo from an unfertilized egg cell.
  5. Parthenogenesis is found in reptiles, ants, birds, honey bees, etc.
