  1. Fungi are eukaryotic (cells with well-defined membranes and defined nucleus) organisms belonging to the kingdom of fungi.
  2. Fungi reproduce asexually via zoospores and conidia or sporangiospores.

A. Zoospores:

  1. They are motile spores that use a flagellum (hair-like appendage) for locomotion.
  2. They use flagellum to swim through fluids.
  3. These spores germinate under favorable conditions.

B. Conidia or sporangiospores:

  1. Conidia are special asexual spores.
  2. They are borne on special branches known as conidiophores.
  3. Sporangiospores are protected inside a protective sac.
  4. These spores are haploid (n DNA).
  5. They mature into hyphae (filamentous branches of the fungi) under favorable conditions.
