Question

How does biosphere control abiotic world?

Open in App
Solution

The biosphere consists of the living components (e.g., plants, animals, microbes, etc.) of Earth. In other words, biosphere is the part of Earth that supports life and is at the intersection of the abiotic components. The abiotic components of our Earth consist of the lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere. The interaction of the biotic and abiotic components takes place in the form of matter and energy.

All plant life is dependent on abiotic factors. Water would be the most crucial factor and so would be sunlight in determining distribution. That is the reason why we have different kinds of vegetation in different parts of the world. Small thorny plants in deserts, huge trees and creepers in the tropics, soft bodies byount plants in water bodies.
Agriculture is possibly the single biggest human intervention that provides abiotic requirements to help grow plants in environments that normally would not support them.
