Question

How does blood circulate between lungs and heart in human beings ?

Open in App
Solution

Oxygen-rich blood from the lungs comes to the thin-walled upper chamber of the heart on the left, the left atrium. The left atrium relaxes when it is collecting this blood. It then contracts transferring oxygenated blood to the left ventricle. The left ventricle afer recieving blood then pumps it to body parts.

De-oxygenated blood comes from different parts of the body to the upper chamber on the right, the right atrium. As the right atrium contracts it transfers deoxygenated blood into the right ventricle which then pumps blood to the lungs for oxygenation.
