Question

how does changing the amplitude and frequency affect how we hear

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
Frequency: The number of cycles or vibrations undergone during one unit of time by a body in periodic motion. Higher the frequency of a sound wave the higher the pitch.
Amplitude: The maximum displacement or distance moved by a point on a vibrating body or wave measured from its equilibrium position. It is equal to one-half the length of the vibration path. As the amplitude of the sound wave increases, the intensity of the sound increases. Sounds with higher intensities are perceived to be louder.
