Question

How does Earth recieve most of its heat? [3 MARKS]

Open in App
Solution

Mode of Heat transfer : 2 Marks
Concept : 1 Mark

Earth recieves all of its heat from the Sun, which is the centre of our solar system. The sun is so far out that it cannot transfer the heat by convection or conduction as there is also lack of medium between Earth and Sun. The heat that we recieve is radiated from the sun in the form of light particles called photons.

These photons increase the excitation of the substance in which they are absorbed, thus increasing their temperature.
