Question

How does electric current flow in a metal?

Open in App
Solution

Electrical Current:

The electrical current is the flow rate at which an electron charge moves from one location to another into the conductor, known as the electrical current.

  1. The electron is free to move in the conductors. Electrons start moving from negative to positive when the voltage source is connected across the conductor. Due to the motion of electrons, the electric current flows from the positive to the negative terminal of the battery in the circuit.
  2. But when the supply source or the voltage source is connected in the opposite direction, the electrons start moving in the opposite direction.
  3. The metals are good conductors of electricity.

Hence, current passes through the metals due to the movement or flow of negatively charged electrons.
