Question

How does excretion take place in contractile vacuole in amoeba?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Contractile vacuole in amoeba performs excretion and osmoregulation.. Its cell membrane is semi permeable and the exchange of gases (O2 and CO2) takes place by diffusion through body surface in water. The waste is drawn out by the contractile vacuole that contracts to allow an exit space for waste to leave the cell.
