Question

How does gladiolus reproduce

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Gladiolus is one of the genus of flowering plants that usually grows in cold climate. The stems are not branched and flowers grow surrounding a spike. The spikes are large and on only one side flowers are present. These flowers are very colourful (purple, pink, red, white, yellow, orange etc.) and are used mostly in bouquets. Gladiolus plants grow from stem structures called corms. They reproduce by means of small corms, called cormel, that form at the base of the corms.
