Solution

Adrenaline

  1. Adrenaline or epinephrine hormone is secreted by the adrenal medulla of the adrenal glands.
  2. It is also called the emergency hormone, i.e. the hormone of fight or flight response.

Response

The human body responds to the secretion of adrenaline in the blood in the following ways:

  1. The rate of heartbeat and cardiac output increases.
  2. The body becomes increasingly alert. Sweating and piloerection (raising of hairs) also take place.
  3. The basal metabolic rate also increases in response to adrenaline secreted into the blood.
