How does ice gets converted into liquid water?
Ice converts into liquid water by absorbing heat.
Ice is a solid comprise of very closely packed molecules which possess less kinetic energy. On heating, the particles in ice gain kinetic energy, at the melting point of ice (0∘C), the particles gain sufficient amount of energy to overcome the inter-particle force of attraction and get converted into liquid form. At 0∘C energy supplied is used to overcome intermolecular forces and no kinetic energy is gained by particles.
