how does kingdom is proved to be the highest category of taxonomic studies ?

According to hierarchy of classification, as represented by biologist like Earnst Haeckel, Robert Whitaker and Carl Woese, all the living beings are classified into broad categories, that are called kingdoms. This is taken as highest rank as at this level, all the organisms are classified on the basis of some basic characteristics like cellular organisation and mode of nutrition, whether they are single cellular or multicellular etc.
