Open in App
Solution

Linkage:

  1. When two genes that are present on a chromosome in close proximity are inherited together, it is referred to as genetic linkage.
  2. The inheritance of linked genes occurs during sexual reproduction in the meiosis phase.
  3. Linked genes have at least or no chances of recombination.
  4. As a result of genetic linkage, two genes are inherited at the same time.
  5. Linkage of genes helps in gene mapping and thus, helps in knowing the relative distances of genes present in the chromosomes.
