How does manure improve the structure of sandy and clayey soil?

Solution

Manure produces humus in the soil. Humus binds with soil particles of the clay and increase porosity thus allow proper drainage of water. In sandy soil, humus occupy spaces between the sand particles and allow the water to be retained in the soil for longer time.
