How does mountain dew get its characteristic yellow colour?

Tartrazine mainly imparts a yellowish colour to the food substance. It can be found in a wide variety of food including desserts and candies, soft drinks, condiments, and breakfast cereals. It is found in mountain dew, macaroni and cheese, M&M’s candy, canned pie filling etc. Erythrosine and carmoisine are used to provide red colour to food items.
