Palampur reflects the picture of a rural India and give us insights about the basic farming and non farming activities in a village
a. Although farming is the main activity in Palampur around 25% of the population is involved in non farming activities like dairy and are involved in selling milk to the neighbouring villages.
b. People rear livestock in Palampur like buffalos and feed them with bajra, jowar
c. The milk produced and is sold to traders from Shahpur , who have set up chilling centres in Raiganj.
d. From there the milk is sold and transported to towns and other far off villages
e. This provides them with an alternate source of employment.
f. It allows them to venture out other things.
