Question

How does pepsinogen change into its active form?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

The chief gastric cells of our stomach known as peptic cells release pepsinogen and chymosin. Our stomach also consists of gastric glands having oxyntic cells which further releases gastric acid mainly hydrochloric acid. The pepsinogen which is a precursor of the pepsin activates by this hydrochloric acid further this pepsin breaks down the proteins into smaller peptides.

Thank You!
