Open in App
Solution

Phellem and phelloderm:

  1. The cork that is created on the outside is known as phellem. Phelloderm, on the other hand, is the secondary cortex generated on the inner side.
  2. Phellem is largely made up of dead cells, whereas phelloderm is mostly made up of living cells.
  3. The cells in the phellem are closely packed, whereas the cells in the phelloderm are loosely packed.
  4. Water is impervious to cells in the phellem but permeable to cells in the phelloderm.
