Question

How does polygenic inheritance differ from multiple allelism.

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student, Polgenic inheritance involves more than one gene for a single trait in which the dominant alleles have cumulative effect with each dominant allele expressing a part or unit of a trait, the full trait being shown only when all dominant alleles are present whereas multiple alleles involves more than two allele of same genes. Multiple alleles are formed due to repeated mutation of the same gene but in different directions. Thank You!
