Question

how does resistivity and resistance vary with temperature

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,
Resistivity and resistance of conductor increases with temperature. Atoms vibrates more rapidly and over larger distance at higher temperature. Both increases with increase of temperature,
Relation between them is given by formulas where alph is temperature coefficient of resistance.
Resistivityρt=ρ01+αt Resistance Rt=R01+αt
