  1. It is the largest group of animals.
  2. The word ‘arthropod’ means ‘jointed legs’ and hence, they have jointed legs.
  3. Respiration occurs through the body surface, gills, trachea, and/or book lungs.
  4. The oxygen is carried in an open circulatory system (humans have a closed circulatory system).
  5. Example- cockroaches.
