Question

how does respiration take place in plants during photosynthesis?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

During the day, the oxygen produced as a byproduct of photosynthesis serves the need for plant respiration and the carbon dioxide produced during respiration is used for photosynthesis. So there is no gaseous exchange for respiration. Rather the rate of photosynthesis is higher than respiration so the plant has to take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. Hence respiration goes unnoticeable.
