Question

How does Rhizopus reproduce asexually

Open in App
Solution

Dear student

Rhizopus belongs to the saprophytic fungi. It grows asexually by producing spores.
Rhizopus has non-motile hyphae which give rise to structure called sporangia. During favorable conditions, haploid spores formed by mitosis within sporangia are released in the surroundings. On finding moist and suitable conditions, these spores will germinate to give rise to new Rhizopus.
