Sexual reproduction in plants takes place in the following steps:

i) The male reproductive organ, stamen produces male gamete or anthers. Simultaneously the female reproductive organ carpel produces female gamete or the egg inside the ovules.

ii) Male gametes fertilize the female gametes forming the zygote capabe of growing into a new plant.

iii) The fertilized ovules containing the zygote hardens it coat to form seeds.

iv) The seeds produce new plants under favourable conditions like presence of water, warmth, air, light, etc.
