  1. Phaeophyceae is a class of brown algae.

  4. In most brown algae, asexual reproduction occurs by biflagellate zoospores which appear pear-shaped.
  5. Sexual reproduction occurs through oogamous, isogamous, or anisogamous modes.
  6. The majority of the members use external fertilization.
  7. After germination, the zygote does not go through meiosis and generates a diploid thallus.
