How does solubility in a particular solvent change in a homologous series? Explain in detail.

Solution

More the molecular mass, less will be the solubility. In the homologous series the molecular mass increases and so the solubility decreases. The reason for this is more the mass, more will be the vander Waal's force of attraction and less is the solubility.
