1. When particles of an object vibrate they transfer vibrations to surrounding particles which in turn pass vibrations to the next particle.
2. In this way vibrations travel in a wave like pattern in all directions and are known as sound waves and travels in air.
3. Depending upon the density of the medium, the speed of the sound is affected.
