Statins are drugs which are used in the treatment of high blood cholesterol. It is also called as HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors. They are a class of lipid-lowering medications. They act by inhibiting the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. This enzyme is used by liver in the production of cholesterol.
