How does suitable pollination lead to fertilisation in plants

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

Pollination is a process of transferring of pollen grain from the anther to the stigma of same or different flower of same or different plant. It occurs via wind, water, insects, birds or animals.
After pollination pollen grain germinate on the stigma and produce a pollen tube that carry two male nuclie and reach to the embryo sac by passing through style. After reaching embryo sac pollen tube release both male nuclie inside the embryo sac followed by the fusion of one of the male nuclie and egg (syngamy) and other male nuclie and polar nuclie.
