Question

How does temperature affect gas pressure?

Open in App
Solution

Kinetic energy: It is the energy poses by the particle due to motion.

Affect of temperature on gas particles:

  • The gas particles are loosely packed. When the temperature of the container increases, the kinetic energy of the gas molecule becomes high. This means the collision rate of the particles increases.
  • Due to the collision of gas particles, the pressure increases across the wall of the container.

Thus, As the temperature increases, the pressure of the gas also increases.
