Question

How does temperature affect the internal resistance of a battery?

Open in App
Solution

The affect of temperature on the internal resistance of a battery:

  • Internal resistance is opposition of flow of current which is offered by the battery. In battery, the movement of ions takes place by which current is produced.
  • The internal resistance opposes the flow of ions. As the temperature increases, moves faster and more current is produced. This lead to decrease in the internal resistance.

Thus, On increasing the temperature the internal resistance of a battery will decreases.
