Question

How does the bursting of crackers which contain phospures , sulphur and magnesium along with other chemicals can pollute our environment

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

When the firecrackers are burnt, they emit oxides of phosphorus, sulphur and magnesium. Oxides of sulphur is a major air pollutant. It contributes to air pollution. In addition, oxides of sulphur also leads to acid rain when it combines with the evaporated water vapour and condenses down as sulphurous acid. The oxides of magnesium and phosphorous are particulate matter. These particles remain suspended in air and enters the respiratory tract of living organisms when they breathe.
