Question

How does the chemical equation tells us about the no. of Gram Atoms or Gram Moles of a substance that participate in the Chemical Reaction

Open in App
Solution

The number of gram atoms or number of gram moles can be calculated from the stoichiometry of the chemical reaction. The balanced chemical equation gives the number of moles of the reactant or product and from that the number of atoms can be calculated.
Number of atoms = mole x avogadro number x number of atoms in the molecule (or number of atoms in the question asked)
For ex
2 SO2 + O2 2 SO32 moles of SO2 reacts. So number of gram moles of SO2 = 2Number of gram atoms of SO2 = 2 × 6.022 × 1023 × 3 = 36.132 × 1023 atoms
