How does the chick spurs recognise her own mother?

Open in App
Solution

Imprinting is a process of learning where an animal becomes aware so that it becomes able to do species identification.

As soon as a chick hatches, it imprints on the adult immediately identifying visual, auditory cues of the adult. It happens within 13 to 16 hours of hatching. After that, the chicks will always follow the mother.
