Question

How does the construction of a dam affect the biodiversity of a region?

Open in App
Solution

To build dams a vast amount of forest land is cleared. Due to the loss of their natural habitats, the animals start to move away which results in the loss of biodiversity. Dams also affect the water quality of the rivers and reduce the flow of the water as well. This in turn affects the fish and the other animals that live in and around the river.
