Question

How does the electrolyte cell differ from electrochemical cell in the principle of flow of energy?

Open in App
Solution

Part 1:- Electrochemical cell:-

  1. It converts the chemical energy of the redox reaction into electrical energy.
  2. Since the reactions are carried out electrochemically, it is more energy sufficient and less polluting.
  3. This cell is also called the Daniel cell.

Part 2: Electrolyte cell:-

  1. It contains the electrodes and the electrolyte.
  2. It converts electrical energy into chemical energy.
  3. It is also called a voltameter.

Electrolytic cell converts electrical energy into chemical energy, whereas electrochemical cell converts chemical energy into electrical energy
