How does the embryo gets nourishment from the mother's womb?

Embryo:

  1. Embryo gets nutrition from mother's blood with the help of special tissue called placenta.
  2. It is a disc which is embedded in the uterine wall.
  3. It contains villi on the embryo's side of the tissue.
  4. On the mother's side are blood spaces.
  5. This provides a large surface for diffusion of glucose, oxygen and other nutrients from the mother to the embryo.
