Similarly, the shape of the leaf in monocots decide the type of epidermis. In Dicots upper layer is exposed to the sun and therefore it has a different kind of epidermis compared to the lower side. In monocots, the leaf is vertical and therefore the epidermis on both sides have the same anatomy.
