Question

How does the penetration of Ultrasound be more than that of normal sound?

Open in App
Solution

  1. The frequency of Audible sound is between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz.
  2. Ultrasound or Ultrasonic waves have a frequency of more than 20,000 Hz that is they have very high frequencies due to which the penetration of Ultrasound is more than that of normal sound.
  3. Therefore high-frequency ultrasound has greater energy than ordinary sound waves, hence greater penetrating power because penetrating power depends upon the energy of the wave.
