how does the plants do the process photosynthesis at night?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

Photosynthesis does not takes place in night due to the absence of sunlight.
Few plants such as pineapple uptake the carbon dioxide from environment during night. This carbon dioxide utilised by the plants is stored in the vacuoles in the form of malate or isocitrate which can be used for photosynthesis during daytime. Such plants are called as CAM (Crassulacean Acid Metabolism) plants and mainly occur in arid regions.
