Question

How does the poet portray a millionaire?

Open in App
Solution

The millionaire portrayed by Archibald Lampman is a self-important person. He is inhuman, a base creature with a crazy dream, that makes life evil and painful. He is vain and believes that amassing wealth is true honour. He does not lead his life majestically but plods on. He is crushed by his craze for gold, which is the curse of his life. He is hard-hearted as the life around him is grim with unnumbered homeless people in want and in rags.
