  • By the affect of rate of cooling either hard metal or soft metals are produced.
  • In quenching, which means rapid cooling in the presence of a medium like oil, water at high temperature due to these conditions a metal is converted hard metal.
  • Annealing is process in which metals are cooled slowly due to this condition soft metals are produced.

Thus, By quenching( rapid cooling of metals) produce hard metals.
