How does the resistance of a conductor increase when its length is increased but decrease when its surface area increases?

Dear student, When we increase length of conductor, the chance of hitting of electron inside conductor increases that's why resistance increases but when we increase cross section area the chance of electron collision inside conductor decreases that's why resistance decreases . Regards
