Question

How does the resistance of a wire change when it's length is tripled?

Open in App
Solution

We know equation for resistance of a wire is
R=rho L/A where rho=resistivity
L=length
A=cross sectional area
From this equation its clear that resistance of a wire is directly proportional to length of wire.
As the resistance of a wire is directly proportional to length of the conducting wire
If its length is tripled resistance also tripled.
